Ishtiaque “Ish” Hossain is a Colorado family law and criminal defense attorney based in Littleton. He represents clients facing divorce, parenting disputes, financial uncertainty, and criminal allegations, helping them understand their options and prepare for the decisions ahead.

Ish’s family law practice includes divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities (including custody and parenting time), child support, spousal maintenance, and post-decree modifications. He also handles relocation disputes, protection orders, contempt and enforcement proceedings, and financial disputes involving business interests, income, and disclosure obligations. He brings experience to contested cases where family law issues overlap with criminal allegations or parallel proceedings.

Ish worked on the family bench of the Pima County Superior Court in Arizona as a judicial extern and law clerk. He began his Colorado legal career as a student attorney in the 7th Judicial District Attorney’s Office under Colorado’s Student Practice Act. He later served as a Deputy District Attorney, handling a docket of more than 900 cases and taking part in more than 25 jury and bench trials. He reviewed police reports, advised law enforcement agencies, prepared witnesses, and drafted motions and jury instructions, and he resolved additional matters through negotiation and motions practice. His prosecution experience informs how he evaluates evidence, examines witnesses, and prepares cases for court. In family law matters involving disputed allegations, that background helps him distinguish between what a party asserts and what the evidence can establish.

Ish starts with the client’s priorities, looks closely at the available evidence, and builds a strategy around both the legal issues and the practical consequences. He gives direct advice about the strengths and weaknesses of a position and the opportunities for resolution. When an agreement is possible, he works toward terms that address the client’s needs. When disputed issues require a hearing, he prepares clients for the process and presents their position clearly.

Ish’s legal training spans two systems. He earned his LL.B. and completed the Bar Professional Training Course in England, was called to the Bar of England and Wales through Lincoln’s Inn, and then earned an LL.M. in U.S. Law from George Mason University and a J.D. from the University of Arizona. He knows that clients may be navigating an unfamiliar legal system while making difficult decisions about their children and their finances, and he works to make the process understandable so they can take part in their own cases.

Ish is admitted to practice in Colorado and the District of Columbia.
